The Release of Confidential Patient Information
Written by FOI Lead

Whist the Act prohibits the release of any information that in whole or in part could identify a patient, staff member or 3rd party. The Data Protection Act 1998 does give the subject of the information the right to view materials in which they are mentioned. One of the main reasons why you could make a request to the Trust is to view your health records.

There is a charge for this service and we shall need confirmation of identity before releasing the copies of the information. We endeavour to provide this information to you within 21 days.

If you wish to make a request under the Data Protection Act, please contact:

The release of deceased patient’s records is subject to the Access to Health Records Act and we will need proof of Power of Attorney.
