Help with your SEA
Written by Dr Collins

As from August 2009 all trainees will need to write up at least one SEA per 4 months of training and put on learning log. Each event should be discussed with both CS and ES.

As from August it is compulsory of every ST3 to do a eight point audit under supervision of ES.This will be marked by your ES.
What is SEA
  • A way of learning from experience, either good or bad, so that we can improve our performance and stop us making the same mistakes, time after time

  • Good experience, enjoy the moment, boost morale

  • Bad experience, consolation and coming to terms with the fact that we are all human and make mistakes

”Any event thought by anyone in the team to be significant in the care of patients or the conduct of practice”

Pringle et al 1994
