Thank you for your request to Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust regarding WHO Guidelines, Please see the response below from the Business Centre Manager for Theatres Anaesthetics and Critical Care:-
- Does your trust use the WHO Safer Surgery Saves Lives guidelines in its operating theatres?
We do not use the WHO guidelines in their designed format, however, we do follow internal / national guidelines that match most of the areas addressed within the “sign –in” (100%) and “sign-out” (80%) fields and to a lesser degree within the “Time-out” (60%) field.
- Do your operating theatre staff observe the ‘Time Out’ procedure outlined in the guidelines prior to incision?
Partially (60%)
- If no, when do you plan to implement the guidelines?
Already underway in a pilot area aimed at addressing the additional checklist questions contained in the WHO document to achieve a 100% compliance rating.
