Details of the Request


  1. The infections I would like data on are: Acinetobacter; Pseudomonas; and Burkholderia for 2006, 2007 and 2008.
  2. How many patients from whom the infection was isolated in each year died from either the infection or complications brought about by the infection
  3. How many patients were infected in each year. How many a) patients, b) environmental surfaces and c) pieces of hospital equipment tested positive in each year
  4. And for Acinetobacter, please state under each questions, how many of the cases were T strain?

Details of the Response

Thank you for your request to Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust regarding Significant Bacteraemia infections. The Trust’s Consultant Microbiologist has responded as follows:-


Acinetobacter:
  • 2006: 6
  • 2007: 4
  • 2008: 9

Pseudomonas:
  • 2006: 16
  • 2007: 22
  • 2008: 20

Burkholderia:
  • 2006: 0
  • 2007: 1
  • 2008: 0

The Consultant Microbiologist has also stated that she is not aware that we have had any T strain Acinetobacter over this period.
