  1. How much money was spent by your Trust on a) fruit b) vegetables c) meat and d) dairy produce in each of the most recent three years for which figures are available?
  2. What proportion of the food procured by your Trust is produced within a) the authority boundaries b) within a 100 mile radius (please provide figures for each of the last three years where possible)?
  3. How much did your trust spend on food in each of the last three years?
  4. What are the latest figures for childhood obesity within your authority boundaries for each of the last three years?

Details of the Response

Thank you for your request to Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust regarding food procurement. Please see below the response from the Trust’s Lead Paediatric Consultant and Head of Hotel Services.

Questions 1-3 have been answered by an outside contractor who manages this service for us on a fixed price contract, but did not hold the contract prior to June 2006.

Question 1 – we are unable to answer question 1 as we do not hold this breakdown of information.

Question 2 - no food comes from within the authority boundaries and only around 5% is within 100 miles.
