Details of the Response
Thank you for your request to Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust regarding maternity services. The Trust’s Associate Director of Maternity Services as responded as follows:-
- Do maternity services in your trust have a policy of weighing mothers when they come into contact with ante-natal services?
We calculate a Body Mass Index for all women who book for maternity care.
- Do maternity services in your trust have a policy of advising obese women to deliver by caesarean section?
No.
- How many babies have been delivered by caesarean section because of complications or concerns relating to the weight of the mother in each of the last 3 years in maternity services run by your trust?
We do not keep specific records on this.
- How much has been spent by maternity services in your trust on adaptations (new furniture, wheelchairs etc) to deal with obese mothers
We purchased last year one bariatic couch which cost £2070.40 and one chair which cost £728.69.
