Please provide details of the highest ten sums that your trust has paid out in the past 12 months in compensation to patients who have made a complaint against the trust.
In each case please make clear the total amount paid to the patient, the reason for the payout, the total amount of legal fees paid and the solicitor/legal firm to whom the fee was paid. |

Details of the Response
Thank you for your request to Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust regarding the highest ten sums the trust has paid out in the past 12 months in compensation to patients who have made a complaint against the trust.
The Trust’s Complaints Department has responded:
The Trust has paid out the following two sums for the period above:
- £183.65
- £ 65.00
Total £248.65
The first case related to a failing in communication around a patient’s surgery being cancelled. The complainant sought to recover loss of earnings, travel and other associated costs.
The second case also related to cancellation of surgery on the day where by the complainant wished to seek reimbursement of return taxi journey.
There were no legal fees or solicitor’s involvement in respect of either complaint. |
