Details of the Response

Thank you for your request to Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust regarding procedures involving the removal of breast implants carried out by the Trust.

The Trust’s Consultant Breast Surgeon has responded.

Unfortunately, we are unable to collate the information requested for the last 24 months, however we can confirm that there were 10 implant removals carried out during the time period of March 2009 to March 2010.

Our systems do not record data on how many of these implants were carried out in direct relation to ruptured implants. The Trust utilise many different implants and do not necessarily input the type of implants that are found to be ruptured. We are not able to provide data on total procedures involving patients who have had implants put in privately for augmentation purposes.
