Thank you for your request to Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust regarding:

The Trust’s Deputy Chief Nurse has responded.

For the financial years 2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09 and quarters 1 and 2 2009-10:
  1. For each time period how many whole time equivalent Tissue Viability Nurses were employed by the Trust?

  3. What was the average, shortest and longest waiting time for patients to be seen by a Tissue Viability Nurse following receipt of a referral?

    This is not formally calculated; however the aim is to see the patient within 48 working hours following referral.

     
  4. How many patients were seen by a Tissue Viability Nurse at the Trust in the given time periods?

    2006-2007: 641 episodes of care – this includes initial assessment, follow up assessments and verbal advice.
    2007-2008: 774 episodes of care – this includes initial assessment, follow up assessments and verbal advice.
    2008-2009: 795 episodes of care – this includes initial assessment, follow up assessments and verbal advice.
    2009-2010 (quarters one and two): 488 episodes of care – this includes initial assessment, follow up assessments and verbal advice.


     
  5. For each time period how many whole time equivalent Infection Control Nurses were employed by the Trust?

    2006-2007: 3
    2009-2010 (quarters one and two): 4


     
  6. What nursing grades were the Infection Control Nurses employed by the Trust?

  7. What was the average, shortest and longest waiting time for patients to be seen by an Infection Control Nurse following receipt of a referral?

    Infection Control Nurses do not take receipt of referrals like other specialist nurses or see patients in clinics. However, if a patient or family request to see an Infection Control Nurse we respond that day. Any patient who has an MRSA bacteraemia or C diff is seen within 24 hours by the Infection Control Nurses. Our workload is generated by the specimens sent and organisms isolated.
