Thank you for your request to Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust regarding public health/welfare funerals.


The Trust’s Bereavement Officer has responded.
  1. The total number of public health funerals (where the deceased has no relatives or there is no one else willing to pay) that your Trust has undertaken for the financial years between 2007 and 2010.

    The average cost for a cremation is £900.

     
  7. What does your Trust provide at a Public Health Funeral?

    The Trust via its contract funeral directors pays for a cremation service at Woking Crematorium. If for religious reasons a burial is required this would be in a common grave at a local cemetery.

     
  8. What relationship do you have with your local council(s)regarding funerals of this nature?
