Details of the Request


  • The savings the trust expects to have to make over the next five financial years (from 2010/11 to 2014/15 inclusive), broken down by year, expressed both as an amount and as a percentage of the current total trust expenditure.
  • The number of confirmed job cuts to be made by the hospital trust; this should include as much detail as possible on how many of the cuts are to clinical posts, and within that how many drs, nurses etc & in which departments and how many of the cuts are management posts, planned job cuts, or potential job cuts under consideration by the trust; again, this should include as much detail as possible on how many of the cuts are to clinical posts, and within that, how many doctors, nurses etc
  • Confirmed, planned or potential (i.e. under consideration) reductions in services or closures in departments or wards as a result of central government budget cuts

Thank you for your request to Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust regarding the following:

Ashford & St Peters’ long-term financial model includes the following cost improvement and efficiency programme for the next five years:

We are able to supply the projected workforce numbers for the next five years, against the categories in the table below. These numbers represent the budgeted forward workforce plan. Ashford & St Peter’s is committed to implementing this workforce plan through natural turnover, retraining, redesigned roles and redeployment, with redundancy as an absolute last resort.

I am also requesting any official trust management board documents or reports that may have been prepared that detail any cuts specified above; this final request only applies to the extent that it can be fulfilled within the statutory time and cost limit as referred to within the terms of the Freedom of Information Act. This final request takes lower priority than the bullet-pointed requests listed above.

All Trust management board documents are published on the Trust’s webiste. Therefore Section 22 of the FOI Act is being apllied as these topics, when discussed, will be published in the future in this way.
