I would like figures for the highest salary earned by a hospital consultant (doctor, not manager) over the last year.
I would like the figures to include all earnings from other hospital trusts. |

Details of the Response
Thank you for your request to Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust regarding the highest salary earned by a hospital consultant.
The Trust’s Deputy Director of Finance has responded as follows:
The highest earning consultant earned £205k. This relates to the Trust’s Medical Director and so will be in the Trust’s Annual Report for 2009/10, which will be presented at the AGM later this month.
As Medical Director he receives payment for that role, in addition to his role as a full-time hospital consultant. Also included in this is a National Silver Clinical Excellence Award of £46,644 pa, which is funded centrally and not by the Trust.
We only have pay information for this Trust so cannot include earnings, if any, from other Trusts.
