Details of the Request

Do patients or patients’ carers have a choice of having Halal meat or not Halal meat at your hospitals?

Please state if meat products are either
  1. all Halal,
  2. all non-Halal or
  3. patients can choose either Halal meat or non-Halal meat food

Please answer the same question in the same way (either (i) all Halal, (ii) all non-Halal or (iii) patients can choose wither Halal meat or non-Halal meat food products) in relation to food provided for infants (children of six months or over and those that would still be fed by an adult with a liquidised or mushed up selection of ingredients).

Are there any pork products available to patients?

How do you communicate your policy on providing Halal meat to your patients?

When was your current policy on Halal meat introduced?

Please provide me with copies of any minutes from meetings in which this policy was discussed

Thank you for your request to Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust regarding Halal Meat.

The Trust’s Head of Hotel Services has responded as follows:
  1. Do patients or patients’ carers have a choice of having Halal meat or not Halal meat at your hospitals?

    Yes
     
  2. Please state if meat products are either (i) all Halal, (ii) all non-Halal or (iii) patients can choose either Halal meat or non-Halal meat food products.

    Patients can choose either Halal meat or non-Halal meat food products
     
  3. Please answer the same question in the same way (either (i) all Halal, (ii) all non-Halal or (iii) patients can choose wither Halal meat or non-Halal meat food products) in relation to food provided for infants (children of six months or over and those that would still be fed by an adult with a liquidised or mushed up selection of ingredients).
