Each trainee will be doing at least one 4 month hybrid post in either their ST1 or ST2 year.
This post involves sharing of time between General Practice and Hospital with two and half days spent in a Hospital Specialty (usually Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday morning) and two days in General Practice (Wednesday afternoon, Thursday and Friday). You will also be expected to eight hours per month of 'on call' in the Specialty. Whilst in this post you will have informal teaching within the GP Practice as well as the usual Thursday teaching session.
GPST1 and GPST2 posts in A&E, Paediatrics, Obs & Gynae, Psychogeriatrics, GUM, Palliative Care, Rheumatology, Drug & Alcohol, Ophthalmology, Dermatology and ENT.
GP trainees now spend 2.5 days in speciality (Monday,Tuesday and Wednesday am,apart from psychiatric jobs where days vary) and 2.5 days in GP(Wednesday pm,Thursday and Friday). Every 2 weeks there is a tutorial which is run by ITP Clinical Supervisors and is held at local practices or PGEC.
