Staff Nurses for Hyper Acute Stroke Service Recruitment Event
Join our nursing team and be part of a multidisciplinary team in delivering the gold standard of Stroke care.
When a stroke strikes, what matters is getting the right treatment quickly and in the right place. The Stroke department is crucial in supporting every patient to receive the best possible expert care within delay. On a 24 hour / 7 day per week basis, all stroke patients will be assessed, undergo a brain scan, diagnosed and given life-saving clot-busting drugs, within 30 minutes of arriving at hospital, and four and a half hours of having a stroke. Our specifically trained nurses are experts in looking after stroke patients. Using their nursing skills to oversee the treatment of those in the care and keeping them comfortable and safe whilst they are on the ward.
As a nurse working on the stroke unit, you will have specialist and structured education framework with a range of competencies to support practice and on-going learning.
Additional stroke competencies will be completed as part of the job on the Stroke unit.
We have significant service developments under way and are leading the way in delivering high quality, timely Stroke services to North West Surrey. Stroke and Neuro Sciences are delivered across 3 sites, you will be predominantly based at St Peter’s but there will be opportunities to work in within rehab and early supported discharge. This will offer you the chance to work with a team of healthcare professionals who will give you peer support and guidance.
Ashford and St. Peter’s NHS Foundation Trust is forward thinking and works in partnership with the Institute for Health Improvement to equip its staff with the tools to make positive changes to the way we deliver healthcare sciences. This is an exciting time for us and we are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join the team. Previous Stroke experience is not essential and applications are welcome from nurses wishing to work full-time, part-time and bank hours.

The stroke unit at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospital undertake a complete transformation programme with all stroke pathway under the care of one unit at St Peter’s Hospital to provide direct access for hyper acutely ill stroke patients and to provide early rehabilitation and quicker discharge home.
We are looking to recruit dynamic and motivated nurses, willing to specialise in stroke care to provide excellent quality care in timely manner, whilst keeping patients safe and informed.
