Lorna Ponti and the Lunch4Life committee raised £10,000 this March for the Ashford and St Peter’s NHS Hospital Trust (ASPH) at a fundraising lunch, where over 200 people gathered for Lunch4Life. A cheque was presented to the Breast Care Consultant Ms Sunita Shrotria by Lorna to go into the Breast Care Fund which will help fund research, buy equipment and send ASPH staff on Breast Cancer training days.
Said Sunita: “This generous gift of a £10,000 cheque from Lorna and her team will help the Breast Care Unit enormously. We will put the money into the Breast Fund which allows us to buy equipment and this charitable donation also go towards research. At the moment, we are trailing a state-of-the-art piece of equipment that may reduce the amount of operations breast cancer patients may need and which reduces the stress on their body. ![]() From left to right: Consultant Breast Surgeon Lorna has given Ashford and St Peter’s Breast Care Unit around £45,000 over the past three years. She does an amazing job organizing the yearly event and we thank her and her committee for this contribution.”
As a survivor of breast cancer, Lorna dedicates most of her time and effort into making sure the Lunch4life is a success.
Said Lorna: “Lunch4Life will carry on supporting the Ashford and St Peter’s NHS Hospital Trust Breast Care Unit, although next year we want to have the event in the evening. It takes me about a year to plan everything and I love every bit of it”.
