Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has now confirmed the submission of their plans to potentially acquire Epsom Hospital and become a larger, three hospital Foundation Trust. Chief Executive of Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Andrew Liles, comments: “Last week the Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals Trust Board approved our detailed plans to acquire Epsom Hospital and create a new, larger NHS Foundation Trust which we believe would provide a strong long-term future for local health services. Part of our bid involves partnerships with the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, Central Surrey Health and Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, bringing added benefits to Surrey patients and creating an innovative campus approach for Epsom hospital. The Transaction Team, based at NHS London, will spend the next 2-3 months assessing our plans against their objectives for Epsom and the criteria they have developed with staff and local stakeholders before making a final recommendation. Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals is a successful organisation coming up to our first anniversary as a Foundation Trust. Our Board will also need to ensure that any final agreement is in the best interests of both organisations and of our patients and staff before proceeding to the next stage.” |
