  • Nuclear Medicine – the use of small traces of radioactive substances to examine organ structure or destroy diseased cells
  • MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) – creates density images based on the nuclear magnetic resonance of protons
  • Ultrasound – uses high frequency sound waves to construct an image of internal organs or fetal growth
  • Angiography – the use of a dye that is opaque to X rays injected into coronary arteries so that blood circulation can be studied
  • Colour Doppler – an ultrasound alternative to the use of X rays to measure blood flow
  • Dacrocystography – the use of a contrast medium to identify blockages in the nasolacrimaldrainage system (tear ducts or sinuses)
  • Sialography – X ray of salivary glands
  • Venography – used to visualize the veins in the leg through a X ray and contrast dye
