The Ashford Shop

The League of Friends shop at Ashford Hospital, next to the X-Ray department is open on weekdays from 10am to 4pm with an assortment of books, games and puzzles with the best selection of greeting cards for miles around!

The last couple of months of 2014 saw takings in the shop reach an all -time high. The trend has continued, thanks to a dedicated team of volunteers manning the shop and a loyal customer base.

All profits are used to benefit Ashford Hospital’s patients and staff. This year, so far, the Friends have agreed to purchase four additional “Stryker” wheelchairs for use by patients and carers, a Vitalograph Alpha Touch Machine for the Pre-assessment Unit, some “home comforts” for a room on the Stroke Unit used by relatives and updated equipment for Hospital Radio Wey to enable patients to listen to radio broadcasts at Ashford Hospital.

Two Easter craft and cake sales were held and raised £700. The Craft group is now working towards the next event – Christmas! The next fund-raising event will be a Race Night on Saturday 16th May, in St Matthew’s Church Hall, Ashford. Doors open at 6.30pm and Tickets cost £10 including fish and chip supper. This is a popular event, tried and tested, always good fun and bringing in a healthy profit. This is supported by a regular group of members, their families and friends.

Members of staff attending have been few, so here is a challenge, why not make up a table, or come on your own; we will be delighted to see you there. Tickets available from the shop at Ashford Hospital or by telephoning 01784 258836.
