Time for Tea

In July, we held a Tea Party to celebrate the Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospital Charity. The First Steps Nursery also held their own Mad Hatters Tea Party on the day.

Healing Arts at ASPH

Our Healing Arts programme, spearheaded by Chief Nurse Sue Tranka, has really taken off. Lullaby Hour in the Neonatal Unit, provided by the Music in Hospitals and Care Charity, is just one of many arts projects that will be integrated into our Healing Arts culture at ASPH, to include music, art, sculpture, theatre and green projects. The Charity is raising funds to support this.

Cancer Services

Our next charity challenge is to upgrade the chemotherapy area at Ashford Hospital and create a wellness area nearby. This will be a comfortable, calm and friendly environment for cancer patients to sit and talk to staff and other patients over a cup of tea. They will be able to receive counselling and advice, and benefit from complementary therapies. We have got off to a flying start thanks to the Flurry family, comprising Grandad (Colin), Nan (Jo), Mother (Liza), two Aunts (Sarah and. Jo) and grand-daughter Jordan who raised £2,300 by scaling the O2.

The Egham Show 2019

This was the charity’s first visit to a community show with a fantastic team of staff and volunteers helping out on the fundraising stand. It was one of the hottest days this year, so bottles of water and fruit generously donated by Waitrose in Weybridge were in great demand. It was very humbling to hear the public’s praise of our hospitals and great to raise awareness of the charity and current fundraising projects.

Paediatric Surveillance System

We are delighted to say that we have raised the necessary funds to equip the Children’s High Dependency Unit with a state of the art surveillance system to monitor each child on the Unit. A big thank you to all those who supported the appeal.

Can your company help us?

Companies in our catchment area inevitably have employees who are our patients. Charitable activity can unite teams and inspire self-worth in employees. If you know of any company that would like to help please contact Nicola Oliver.
