St Peter's Hospital

Two members of staff from Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals were recognised at the annual Apprenticeship and Support Workforce Heroes Awards by Health Education England, covering Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

Richard Hoy, Cardiology Support Worker, was named winner and Sofia Perez-Broz, Education Team Administrator, runner-up in the ‘Working Above and Beyond the Call of Duty’ category.

The awards ceremony was held last Friday (24th March) in the Sandman Signature Hotel, Crawley.

Richard was nominated for the award by Sister Tessa Martin, who said: “Richard actually retired but then came back to work three days a week to help us out. I honestly don’t know how we or the doctors would manage without him as he offers so much support and just keeps things moving on the ward.”

Sofia attended the awards with her manager Fiona Holley, Interim Lead Nurse for Professional Development. Fiona said: “Sofia is one in a million and nothing is ever too much trouble for her. I can honestly say that I would be lost without her organisation skills, cheerful disposition and willingness to help at all times. She deserves this recognition for everything she does.”
