Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been giving a warm welcome to new Chairman Andy Field who joined the Trust on 4th September.
Andy takes up his new role from his position as Non-Executive Director at Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and brings a wealth of private and public sector experience to the hospital Trust.
Talking of his first few days in post Andy says: “I am delighted to have joined Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals, an organisation which has made huge strides in recent years in becoming a top quality hospital Trust. Over the last few days, I have particularly enjoyed getting out and about meeting staff and patients. I have been given an incredibly warm welcome and already feel like one of the team. On Saturday I was particularly humbled to take part in a very special event at St Peter’s where family members and friends came together to remember loved ones who had given the gift of life by donating their organs and tissues. The event demonstrated to me, so early in my time here, what this Trust is all about – providing holistic care and support to patients and their families, something I feel very passionate about.
My experience as a Non-Executive Director at Surrey and Borders has made me feel very strongly about how we treat individuals as a whole – looking at both their mental and physical health – and I hope I can use that experience in a positive way here at the Trust. Of course there’s lots to do, and I’m very much looking forward to getting on with the job and working with the team.”
Chief Executive, Suzanne Rankin adds: “We are delighted to welcome Andy as our new Chairman; his wide experience in both the private and public sectors will bring added benefit to his leadership of the Board and help Ashford and St Peter’s continue in our journey to be a top hospital.”
Andy’s distinguished career includes 19 years as an Officer in the Royal Corps of Signals where he saw active service, followed by a variety of private sector roles, including Partner in Deloitte and Business Unit Director at Fujitsu. He was previously Non-Executive Director at the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Acquaculture Science. Currently he runs an advisory business, helping organisations overcome difficulties in organisational change, digital transformation and technology programmes.
Andy, who is originally from North Wales, lives in Kingston upon Thames with his wife and has two grown-up children.
