North West Surrey CCG is pleased to announce that from 1st December 2017 Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust will be taking over responsibility for providing provide follow up appointments for children and young people who have been diagnosed with ADHD and those with both ADHD and Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD). This service will replace the previous ADHD service provided by Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals.
Sumona Chatterjee, Director of Strategic Commissioning Development at North West Surrey CCG said: “We are delighted to have secured an agreement with Surrey and Borders Partnership who will provide the service through their Mindsight Surrey CAMHS Service. Although this process has taken longer than we would have wished, we are confident we now have the right solution to ensure a seamless high quality service for children and young people moving forward.”
In the meantime, to support the limited service which has been available at St Peter’s Hospital, two local GPs are reviewing individual cases to identify those children who are suitable to receive six-monthly reviews by their own GP as part of a shared care plan. This will help to speed up reviews for patients and help to reduce the waiting list for those children who do need consultant-led care.
Surrey and Borders Partnership’s Mindsight Surrey CAMHS service already provides diagnostic and non-drug therapy services for young people with ADHD and will now take over responsibility for follow up appointments for children and young people who have been diagnosed with ADHD and those with both ADHD and Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD)for around 1,500 young people.
Surrey and Borders Partnership will provide these services from both the St Peter’s Hospital site and the Ashford Hospital site.
All parties are now working closely together to ensure a smooth and safe transition of care and to make sure children and their families receive timely communication about the new service and where they will receive their care.
Justine Leonard, Director of Children and Young People’s Services at Surrey and Borders Partnership, added: “We are passionate about doing the best we can for children, young people and their families and hope that the new arrangements for on-going care will further improve outcomes and experiences for young people in North West Surrey.”
