Mum Debbie Thwaites who had two babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a member of the hospital’s charity “Little Roo” who along with one of our midwives Laura Pitfield organised with their church Hillsong a collection of toys to give to the brothers and sisters of babies residing on NICU this Christmas.
Debbie said: “A massive THANK YOU to everyone at Hilllsong Church Guildford, who gave Angel tree gifts this year to St Peters Hospital, NICU. These gifts are going to children who are spending Christmas Day in the NICU where their baby brother or sister is."
"Having a baby in a Neonatal ICU is such a traumatic experience, where our Christmas Days are usually full of fun, family times and amazing Christmas dinners."
"When in Intensive Care, this can be lost as only 2 adults allowed by the cot side, only siblings of the baby are allowed in. No Christmas dinners, no time for Christmas shopping, instead of music it’s the sound of machines and alarms."
