Staff and volunteers at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (ASPH) enjoyed an evening together on 1 October, a highlight in the ASPH calendar, to celebrate their annual Staff Achievement Awards.
Patients who are blind or partially sighted can now access free navigation support when travelling to Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals by bus, thanks to an expansion of the Aira Explorer app across Surrey.
For the fifth year running, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (ASPH) has been recognised as a positive outlier in the National Neonatal Audit Programme (NNAP), achieving outstanding results across a number of key audit measures of neonatal care.
Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s maternity unit has introduced the use of the Bilicocoon, an innovative phototherapy system that allows suitable newborn babies with jaundice to receive treatment in the comfort of their own home.
Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has gratefully received a large furniture donation from Clarion Housing. The furniture has been distributed across the trust, but some have also helped to furnish the new Macmillan Cancer Support Centre that is soon to open at Ashford Hospital in Surrey.
The Group Chair and Group Chief Executive roles shared by Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust are expanding to include Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (QVH).

Green Lane Closure - October Half Term: 23rd October to 2nd November
Notice received from GRAHAM Group
As you will be aware, GRAHAM Construction are working on behalf of Surrey County Council to build a new, larger roundabout at the bottom of Holloway Hill, replacing the pre-existing dual mini roundabouts, increasing overall traffic flow.
To continue these works, UKPN need to carry out a utility crossing to one of their assets, beneath the road, at the entrance to Green Lane from Guildford Road.
Green Lane, where it meets Guildford Road, will be closed for 9 days while these works are carried out. The road will be closed for all hours of the day and have been timed to fall within local School’s half term. If excavation works reveal fewer underground services, utilities, or other obstructions than anticipated, there is potential for the road to reopen earlier than planned.
The road will be closed from 8pm Friday 23rd October to 5am Monday 02nd November, with no access permitted to any vehicles.
To clarify, no vehicles will be able to enter, or exit, Green Lane from Guildford Road during the dates listed above.
During this time, there will also be two-way lights on Guildford Road, adjacent to these works. We expect increased congestion around the area during the half term so please plan your journeys in advance, and we thank you for your ongoing patience and understanding for any inconvenience caused.
During the closure, a signed diversion route will be in place through Chertsey using:
- Guildford Road,
- Bell Bridge Road,
- A317 Eastworth Road,
- Chertsey Road,
- Green Lane.

Evening Traffic Congestion at St Peter's
Please be aware that due to ongoing roadworks as part of the A320 improvements scheme, we are experiencing significant traffic in the evenings around our St Peter’s Hospital site. If you’re coming to the hospital to visit a loved one or leaving an appointment between 4pm to 6pm, you may experience significant delays arriving at or leaving the hospital site.
