Occupational Health offer a Physiotherapy service that is dedicated solely to staff members and aimed at helping you overcome any physical problems that could influence your work. The Physiotherapy Service has been shown to reduce the Trust’s musculoskeletal sickness through both prevention and treatment. Since the start of the service, both the average length of musculoskeletal sickness and the overall musculoskeletal sickness levels have reduced. The self-referral nature of the service also prevents employees from needing to take time off work to seek a referral from their GP.
The short waiting times for appointments (usually less than two weeks for routine assessments or less than a week for urgent queries via the drop-in clinic) prevent conditions becoming chronic and enable timely intervention to reduce the overall impact of injury or musculoskeletal limitation on work.
How to refer yourself to Physiotherapy
You can self-refer to Physiotherapy by downloading the form found on our intranet pages or picking up a form from the Occupational Health Department.
Appointments are available at both hospital sites and are held either in the Physiotherapy Department or in Occupational Health Department; please check Trustnet and Aspire for up-to-date details.
In addition to appointment based clinics, we hold a drop-in clinic every Wednesday afternoon between 13:00 and 16:00 in the Occupational Health Department at St Peters Hospital. This is designed for quick advice and guidance on how to deal with acute injuries or any other urgent queries you may have.
To avoid long waiting times, please call ahead on extension 2404 to see how busy the clinic is before attending.
