What is Bank On Us?
As a Trust it is vitally important that for the safe care of our patients we maintain safe staffing levels in both Ashford hospital and St Peter’s. On the occasions staff are on leave and/or sick or we have additional essential shifts to cover we call upon our pool of staff registered with the hospital to help cover at short notice. These are our Bank On Us members who are looked after the Temporary Staffing – Bank On Us Team!
The Bank On Us staff members include Doctors, Nurses, Therapists, Porters, Domestics, admin and CSSD assistants amongst many others! So whatever your talent, skills or qualifications we would love to hear from you.
Pay rates?
Depending on the job grade you are covering you will be paid a pre-determined bank hourly rate. This rate will include a High Cost Area Supplement and in addition to this the rate will also include a premium for annual leave and sick pay, that’s an extra 12.07% for every hour you work on the bank!
Your application to join the Trust Bank?
All bank jobs are advertised via the NHS Jobs website so please keep checking this website and apply online.
All jobs listed with have job descriptions attached that outline the duties of the bank role you are applying for whether admin, portering or nursing!
Your application will be sent to the appropriate individual for shortlisting who will assess your skills and experience against the JD and person specification. If shortlisted you will then be invited for an interview which will be the opportunity to test your skills and competences alongside a discussion about the potential area of work and hours.
We welcome all to the bank as it increased our casual workforce however as bank work is dependent on the needs of the Trust we might not be able to offer you the shift you would like or place you within a department straight away. We have to ensure we are placing individuals in placements appropriate to skills and abilities and age – most patient related areas/roles need workers aged 18 or over.
How to book bank shifts?
The booking of shifts/placements depends on the type of work you are undertaking.
For the nursing and Medical Division, shifts are advertised and booked via the Locums Nest App.
For the admin and clerical sector please actively monitor our weekly email job bulletin and let the team know if you wish to be put forward for any of the roles.
The more specific and/or departmental based bank roles can also be booked directly with the department, for example portering and transport services.
