In these cases it may be necessary to transport them from one hospital to a specialist unit in another – such as the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St Peter’s Hospital (the only one in Surrey). To enable babies to be transported as safely as possible, a dedicated neonatal transport service has been developed. |

Relaunch of the Footsteps Pathway Published: Tuesday, 5 March 2019 The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St Peter’s Hospital are relaunching the Footsteps Pathway, and in line with the NICU philosophy of family centred care and working in partnership with parents, we are providing an accessible and easy to use resource pack. The Footsteps Pathway is a tool for parents to use throughout their stay on NICU. It will help them to recognise their baby’s progress and enable them to anticipate discharge-‘big journeys begin with small steps.’ |

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of our Cardiac Catheter Laboratory Service Published: Monday, 15 April 2019 April 1st saw the 20th anniversary of the InHealth Cardiac Catheter Laboratory Service at St Peter's Hospital which was celebrated by staff and patients. 20 years ago, invasive cardiology procedures were not common practice in district hospitals, and there were many questions asked by commissioners about the need and safety of these types of procedures. |

Launch of new NICU transport incubator system Published: Thursday, 2 May 2019 The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St Peter’s Hospital is delighted to announce the arrival of its new transport incubator system for use by the Surrey Neonatal Transfer Service. The fully equipped mobile intensive care unit for babies was launched at the Level 3 unit in March and has already made several journeys, including a trip to Swansea to bring a premature baby back home to Surrey. |

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit receives largest single charitable donation ever Published: Thursday, 4 July 2019 Little Roo Neonatal Fund were lucky enough to be nominated as ‘Charity of the Year’ by Talon Outdoor Media Agency by colleagues Tom and Charlie Perret after their daughter Aurelia was cared for by the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St Peter’s Hospital. Aurelia was born at 34 weeks in St Peter’s Hospital on 3 July 2017 and spent three weeks in NICU. |

Lullaby Hour at St Peter’s Hospital Published: Monday, 5 August 2019 The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St Peter’s were delighted to recently be joined by professional singer and ukulele player, Emma Stevens, for Lullaby Hour. Lullaby Hour is an award winning project created by the Music in Hospitals & Care charity that brings calming music into hospital wards to help aid sleep and recovery for babies. Emma sang to some of the parents and babies in NICU, and played some gentle and soothing music on her Ukulele which created a relaxing and calm environment for parents as they held their babies. |

3000th baby born in Abbey Birth Centre at St Peter’s Hospital Published: Monday, 12 August 2019 On Thursday 8th August at 20:48 Sheena Parmar from Addlestone gave birth to her second child, a healthy baby boy, named Dylan, who was the 3000th baby to be born in the Abbey Birth Centre at St Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey. Dylan was delivered by Midwife Angela Affinito, weighing 6lb 6oz. |

Trust Transformation Programme begins with build of new multi deck car park Published: Thursday, 03 October 2019 On 7th October the main Outpatients car park at St Peter’s Hospital will close until July 2020 and work will begin on a new, multi deck car park for patients and visitors. The colourful artwork can be seen in two newly decorated isolation rooms on Ash Ward. Featuring jungle animals in one room and woodland creatures in the other room, this wonderful wall-art will help reduce stress and provide distractions for the many children who spend time in hospital. |

This space provides easy access for anyone needing to use the changing area, has a tracking hoist, a sink that moves up and down, a height adjustable changing bench with shower attachment and a privacy screen. |
