No Strike Action at Trust - Services to Continue as Usual Tuesday, 17 January 2023 Nurses within a number of organisations have voted to take industrial action, next scheduled to take place on Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th January 2023. Ballot returns at Ashford and St Peter’s did not achieve the 50% threshold required to give the mandate for industrial action. This means that Ashford and St Peter’s nurses will not strike and services will be running as usual on 18 and 19 January. |

Parents Raise Over £21,000 for Neonatal Unit at St Peter’s Hospital Thursday, 19 January 2023 In June 2019, Helen and Chris welcomed their beautiful daughter Ruby to the world, Ruby was born at full term at another hospital after a textbook pregnancy and labour. During the final stages of labour Ruby did not receive adequate oxygen and after resuscitation she was left with brain injury called Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE). |

Changes to visitor car parking charges Thursday, 2nd February 2023 On 1 February 2023, Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals will be increasing their car parking charges for patients and visitors as part of the annual pricing review. Free parking for the first 20 minutes will continue for visitors who are picking up or dropping off patients and parking remains free for blue badge holders. |

Bowel Cancer Screening Colonoscopy comes to ASPH Wednesday, 22nd February 2023 For the first time, Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have opened a bowel cancer screening colonoscopy service at the Trust. Two Colorectal Consultants, Mr Pasha Nisar and Mr Prateesh Trivedi, have successfully qualified as screening Colonoscopists and our Endoscopy Unit has been accredited in recognition of its high-quality gastrointestinal endoscopy service. |

Junior Doctors' Strike Action 13-16 March 2023 Thursday, 9th March 2023 Following a successful ballot, Junior doctors who are part of the British Medical Association (BMA) and the Hospital Consultants and Specialists Association (HCSA) are expected to take strike action from Monday 13 March to Thursday 16 March. During this period we have taken steps to ensure that emergency care and cancer care continues, however some elective appointments may need to be cancelled. If you have an appointment booked, please attend as planned, unless you have been contacted to reschedule your appointment. |

CQC publishes report on maternity services at St Peter’s Hospital Wednesday, 29th March 2023 In January 2023, Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust were visited by the CQC (Care Quality Commission), who carried out an unannounced focused inspection at St Peter’s Hospital as part of the national maternity inspection programme. The inspection was to look at how safe and well-led maternity services were. Following the inspection, the CQC published a report on 29 March 2023. Our maternity service has been rated Inadequate. |
