Viraleze™ - A New Barrier Antiviral Nasal Spray for the Treatment of COVID-19
The Research & Development department at Ashford & St Peter’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust are proud to partner with Starpharma to bring a new barrier antiviral nasal spray for treating COVID-19.
The way the nasal spray works is quite simple. Viraleze™ is intended to form a protective barrier inside the nasal passage which traps and prevents viruses from interacting with your nasal cells. By reducing their adhesion, multiplication and spread, it allows your body to remove the virus naturally. For a more detailed visual, see below:
This research study involves recruiting eligible participants who are COVID-19 positive. Some of these patients will be given Viraleze™ to take routinely for 7 days at home whilst also swabbing themselves daily. We expect participants using the Viraleze™ spray to have milder symptoms, to get better quicker and to have a lower viral load than those who do not use Viraleze™.
