What are the benefits of volunteering?
What you get out of it is a personal thing.
Some people want to gain new skills and experience, others want to meet new people and others to give something back.
How much time do I have to give?
This is up to you and depends on the role. Some roles allow flexibility, while others require a specific time commitment.
What skills and experience do I need?
All our roles require energy, time and enthusiasm. For those that require specific skills, these would be outlined in the volunteer role descriptions.
Is there an age range for volunteers?
You must be at least 18 years of age to volunteer with us, there is no upper age limit providing you are in good health and able to fulfil the duties of the role.

Will I need to have an interview?
Yes, you will be asked to meet informally with the Voluntary Services Manager for a chat. This will be an opportunity for you to find out more about the role you have applied for. It will also enable us to ensure that your skills and experience are a close match which will provide for an effective working relationship.
Do I need to supply references?
Yes, employers past or present or persons of good standing in the community i.e. a community leader, GP, faith leader, tutor or teacher would all be considered suitable references. You will also be asked to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check.
What training and support will be given?
You can expect an induction when you first join us and access to training that is necessary for you to undertake your role. You will also have a named supervisor / mentor who will be able to provide ongoing support and guidance.
Will volunteering affect my benefits?
In most cases, volunteering will not affect your benefits but there are exceptions.
