Here is a list of items we suggest you bring with you when you have your baby and for your hospital stay with us.
Please be aware that there is limited space available on our wards and we do not recommend bringing large suitcases with you as there is nowhere to store them.
Please do not bring valuable items with you into hospital. The Trust cannot accept any responsibility for the loss of items.

SLEEPWEAR | 2 x loose comfortable modest nightwear (one for labour, one for after you’ve had your baby)

OTHER ITEMS | Isotonic ('sports') drinks can be really helpful to give you extra energy and encourage progress when you are in labour. You will need to buy these yourself and can bring them in when you come into the hospital. If you are on any special diets and/or diabetic please discuss the use of Isotonic drinks with your midwife / doctor / dietician. IF YOU ARE INTENDING TO BOTTLE FEED, YOU MUST BRING SMALL READY MADE CARTONS OF YOUR FORMULA, 2 BOTTLES, 2 TEATS & A BOTTLE CLEANING BRUSH. We do not recommend using lotions, creams or oils on your newborns skin unless advised by a doctor. We will provide your baby with: blankets, sheets, towels and sterilising equipment for your hospital stay. If you are taking your baby home by car, you MUST bring a car seat with you to the ward in order for us to be able to discharge you. |
Partner’s Bag |

Whilst partners are not permitted to stay over night on the postnatal ward, they are permitted to stay with you throughout the labour & birth. They also need to be prepared so they are comfortable and able to support you as best they can. Item(s) check:

General Information
- Please ensure you have all your belongings when you leave the unit.
- Please note the use of mobile telephones is not permitted is all areas. Please check where you are allowed to use your phone.
- Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the hospital grounds. Please be respectful of our mums, newborn babies, other patients and visitors who use our service.
