Julie Smith has joined Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust today, as Chief Executive.
Julie is a radiographer by background who held early clinical roles at Hinchingbrooke Hospital, the Rosie Maternity Hospital, part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH) and Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust. In 2005 she re-joined CUH and held roles that included Ultrasound Manager, Operations Manager for Radiology, Associate Director of Operations, Director of Operations, and a period as acting Chief Operating Officer.

She also spent three years as Executive Intern, a role reporting directly to the Chair and Chief Executive leading on a range of Trust wide projects. Prior to joining ASPH, Julie held the position of Chief Operating Officer at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust since 2018.
Julie Smith said: “I’m delighted to officially start in the role of Chief Executive at ASPH. I’m looking forward to meeting with colleagues from across the Trust and working with such a committed and high performing team.”
Andy Field, Chairman, said: “I’m pleased to welcome Julie to ASPH. She is taking over from Dr David Fluck, who has done a fantastic job leading the organisation as Interim Chief Executive, since Suzanne left the Trust at the end of January.
“On behalf of all staff at ASPH, I would like to thank David for his continual hard work, enthusiasm and commitment whilst leading and supporting Team ASPH through this period.”
