In August, our Gynaecology team successfully launched their first day-case hysterectomy procedures.
This development marks a significant step forward in enhancing patient care and experience. By offering hysterectomies as day cases, many patients can now return home the same day, reducing the need for overnight stays and supporting a quicker recovery at home.
The first day case list was completed thanks to our Gynaecology consultants Dr Jadoon and Dr Dickinson along with our dedicated anaesthetic and nursing teams at our Ashford Hospital site.
This achievement highlights the trust’s commitment to modernising surgical pathways, improving efficiency, and providing patient-centred care. The initiative is also part of the national GIRFT (Getting It Right First Time) programme, which supports trusts to deliver high-quality care, improve outcomes, and make best use of NHS resources through evidence-based practice.
The team are looking forward to building on this success and expanding the service further in the coming months.
