PSA Testing Event at Burhill Golf Club

Sunday 8 March saw our second, successful, annual PSA Testing Event, bringing together Burhill Golf Club, Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals’ Charity and our Urology Team to deliver 90 PSA blood tests, testing for potential prostate cancer. Last year’s event aided in the early detection of prostate cancer for two of Burhills’ community, so the importance of regular testing, even if living without symptoms, was really appreciated by many who attended.

Photo shows the Urology and Charity Team, together with Peter Cummins and Susan Allott, the Burhill Mens’ and Women’s Captains who selected Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals’ Charity as their Captains’ Charity of the Year 2026. A partnership we are hoping will secure £80,000 this year, shared equally between Urology’s Aquablation Appeal and Cardiology to represent health challenges close to the heart of each Captain.

Mr Mike Mikhail, Urology Consultant, met several members of the Golf Club during the morning and said, “It was a really fantastic opportunity to meet and chat to these men who were so grateful. Many said that it was just the nudge they needed to take their health and well-being seriously.”

The theme of the partnership year is “living well” and is very much focussed on health engagement, identifying symptoms early and being in tune to prostate and cardiac changes. Members sought out informal chats with our two Urology Consultants, Mr Mike Mikhail and Mr Sarosh Janardanan, during the day; with many expressing what a good initiative it was. We look forward to rolling out more collaborative events at the golf club as the year progresses.
