The British Medical Association (BMA) has announced industrial action by resident doctors from 7am on Tuesday 7 April to 6.59am on Monday 13 April 2026.
This action will affect some of our services. It may mean that appointments, procedures and operations need to be rescheduled so we can continue to provide safe emergency care. We are sorry for any disruption this may cause and thank you for your patience and understanding.
If you are worried about your care and would like to speak to someone, please contact your clinical team using the details on your appointment letter. You can also contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 01932 723553 or email
Appointments
If you have an appointment and have not heard from us, please attend as planned. If you have a query, contact the number on your appointment letter. You can also check appointment updates using the MyCare patient information portal.
We will contact you directly if we need to rearrange your planned care. We understand this may be distressing and will do everything we can to rebook your appointment, treatment or surgery as soon as possible.
Patient transport
If your appointment or procedure is rearranged, and you have booked patient transport, please cancel this in advance by calling 0300 123 9840.
Accessing urgent and emergency care during industrial action
Regardless of any industrial action, it is important that patients who need urgent medical care continue to come forward as normal, especially in life-threatening cases - when someone is seriously ill or injured, or their life is at risk.
Our hospitals are likely to be busier than usual. Please be patient and kind to our staff, particularly our frontline teams who are working hard to keep everyone safe.
You can help us to help you during this period by seeking help from the most appropriate health services, and only attending our Emergency Department (A&E) for serious accidents and emergencies.
If you are unwell, use NHS 111 online for 24/7 advice about the most appropriate care for your needs, or call 111 - they will provide medical advice and direct you to the best care for your needs. You may be referred to:
