Together We Care Strategy

Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has launched its refreshed Together We Care Strategy, setting out how it will improve care for patients, support its workforce and work with partners over the next three years.

The strategy provides a clear direction for the organisation, with a focus on delivering safer, faster and more joined-up care, while ensuring services remain sustainable for the future.

It has been shaped by extensive engagement with more than 1,500 staff, patients, carers, members of the public and partner organisations, ensuring it reflects the needs and expectations of the communities the trust serves.

At the heart of the strategy are five priorities, known as the trust’s True North objectives:

Together We Care Strategy

These objectives set out what excellent care looks like and will guide decision-making and improvement across the organisation.

Patients and local communities will see a continued focus on safe, high-quality care, shorter waiting times and more joined-up services. The strategy also sets out how the trust will work with partners to deliver more care closer to home and improve health outcomes across North West Surrey.

The trust has also reinforced its commitment to listening, ensuring that patient, staff and community feedback continues to shape how services are developed and improved.

Louise Stead, Group Chief Executive of Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals and Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trusts, said: “We are proud to launch our refreshed Together We Care strategy, which sets a clear direction for the future of our organisation.

“This strategy has been shaped by the people who matter most, including our patients, our staff and our partners. It reflects what we have heard about what is most important, and where we need to focus our efforts.

“Our priority is to deliver safe, high-quality care and a better experience for our patients. We also know that we need to work differently, improving how we use our resources and strengthening our partnerships to meet future demand.

“This is not just a document. It will guide the decisions we make every day and support continuous improvement across our services.”

The strategy recognises that strong partnership working is essential to meeting growing demand. The trust will continue to work closely with primary care, community services, local authorities and the voluntary sector to deliver more integrated care, reduce health inequalities and support prevention.

Alongside improving care and experience, the strategy places a strong emphasis on value and sustainability, ensuring NHS resources are used effectively and services remain viable for the future. For more information, please visit our trust strategy pages.

The trust’s new strategy is closely aligned with, and reflects, our shared ambition to strengthen collaboration with our group partner, Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust. They have also recently refreshed their strategy, which you can view here.
