Letters and parcels
Incoming letters and parcels for patients are delivered to the ward. To avoid possible delays in delivery, please ask your family and friends to include the name of your ward as well as your full name on all letters.
The addresses of the hospitals are at the bottom of this webpage.
It would be helpful if the sender’s name and address is written on the back of the envelope, so that we can return mail to them if you have gone home.
Radio
The hospital’s radio service, Radio Wey, broadcasts round the clock 365 days a year. You can listen on your bedside earphones or day room speakers. Relatives can listen on www.radiowey.co.uk
Presenters visit the wards regularly and take requests and dedications. You can also telephone them internally on Ext. 2017, or leave a message on the 24-hour answering machine on 01932 874433.
Other radio stations are accessible on the bedside earphones.
For health and safety reasons we cannot allow personal radios and televisions on the wards.
Television
For your convenience most of the beds in the general clinical areas have televisions and radios installed, these are run by a company called Hospicom.
Hospicom charges for some of the services and you can buy a “smart card” from one of the Hospicom machines. Please ask a member of staff to direct you to the nearest machine.
Please note that television is FREE to all Children’s Wards.
Telephones
At St. Peter’s Hospital, ‘Hospicom’ bedside units are available with a telephone facility. Additionally, there are payphones situated in various locations, ward staff will advise you of the one nearest to your ward.
Mobile phones
Mobile phones can be used within the public corridors and we ask that you do so with courtesy and respect by ensuring that your phone is switched off within clinical areas. Patients, staff and others all have a right to their privacy and we cannot allow any photographic or video equipment within the Trust without explicit permission.
Where a patient is profoundly deaf and the environment is appropriate they can use their personal ‘talk by text’ mobiles, please ask the Ward Manager for more information.
